The origins of this popular seafood restaurant date back to the 70s, when members of the exclusive Club Regatas dropped-by the contiguous Chorrillos fish market for a fresh ceviche at Sonia Bahamonde's stand. Today's restaurant, owned by the same family of fishers, is an upgraded version of the original, attracting a vast clientele that ranges from gourmets to simple seafood devotees.

Allegedly Sonia originated the "chorrillana" and "a lo macho" recipes, two ways of preparing fish that are most celebrated all through the Peruvian coast. Also outstanding the chita a la Sonia, stripped bass in a seashell and crab stew, served with steamed maniocs.

The atmosphere resembles that of a fish market, with a décor abounding in fishnets, buoys, fishhooks, and old photos of the Chorrillos sea-side district. The sea cliffs that stand some 50 meters from Sonia offer a nice view of the Chorrillo's small port and fish market, as well as a significant portion of Lima's coastline.

The Lima Sheraton Hotel acknowledged Sonia as one of the top 5 budget seafood restaurants in town.

Open Mon-Sun 10.30 am-5.30pm
