This
smooth and charming restaurant occupies a beautiful
mansion that dates back to the early XX century. Yellow
walls decorated with contemporary artwork on-sale, and
wooden chairs and tables tastefully scattered around
the interior patio compose a cosy atmosphere.
Cooks
and waitresses dressed with colourful head wraps -traditional
costume of the Afro Peruvian women that used to work
in coastal haciendas- are busy preparing and serving
some of the great criollo
dishes this restaurant is renowned for: arroz con
pato a la chiclayana (Chiclayo-style rice with duck),
ají de gallina (allegedly the best in town),
lomo saltado and anticuchos.
As
the name suggests, Manos Morenas (ebony hands) is a
celebration of Afro Peruvian culture and cuisine.
From Wednesdays to Saturdays,
the restaurants stages a lively and classy Peña:
Afro Peruvian live music and dances.
