Named after the Ñ letter, unique to Spanish language, Laeñe comprises both a traditional Spanish restaurant and a tasca, a popular bar. The tasca, at the entrance, serves mainly tapas (Spanish appetizers), which give their best when accompanied with red wine. Here the atmosphere is informal and prices should keep below $12 per person. At the backside of the old republican mansion, you find the more elegant, European-style restaurant. It is managed by marquis Valero de Palma, a chef with more than 20 years in Lima's gastronomic scene. The cuisine is traditional Spanish and Mediterranean, with such dishes as the tender pulpo a la gallega (octopus grilled with paprika and usually served with boiled potatoes), calamares en su tinta (squid stewed in their ink), and the all-time famous paella.
