Sumaq Hotel

The Sumaq is the latest luxury hotel to open in Machu Picchu, and the only five star hotel in Aguas Calientes. Located just down the road to Machu Picchu, the Sumaq has a very nice view of the Urubamba river and the mountains. Its architecture takes inspiration in the ancient Inca citadel, and blends perfectly well with the lush surroundings.

The 46 rooms are spacious and sumptuous, and provide an excellent retreat before –or after– ascending to Machu Picchu. All rooms are equipped with 100% Alpaca Fiber Blankets, 100% Cotton Sheets, cable TV, sound proof windows international dialing / direct national phone, heating, electronic safety deposit box, minibar, bathtubs, and black-outs. Smoking is allowed on 5 of the rooms.

The hotel includes the Aqlla Spa, where guests can have massages, sauna and hydrotherapy treatments.

At the Quinuq restaurant you can taste first class Peruvian modern cuisine, created by chef Rafael Piqueras (the former chef and co-owner of Fusión). The menu includes gourmet reinterpretations of classic Peruvian dishes such as causa and ceviche, along with more Andean-based creations that include alpaca meat and Andean trout.
