Managed by US expatriate Bill, this cool and friendly guest house has been around for some 25 years. Needless to say Bill has built a thorough know-how regarding traveller needs and wishes: for example, they prepare lunch bags to-go for their guests' excursions to Machu Picchu.

Located next to the Plaza de Armas (on the same side as the church), the 3-story building is predominantly stone and mahogany wood, which confers the place a comfortable, cosy atmosphere. Gringo Bill's Hostal was remodelled in 2004, and now offers accommodation for 40 travellers in a wide variety of clean and comfortable rooms (doubles, matrimonial, triple and quadruple), all of which have good beds.

There is a nice interior patio filled with native plants, and many balconies with nice views of the surrounding rainforest. The restaurant is honest. Probably the best value in town for a mid-range accommodation.
