Despite a name that evokes Andean fare, Indio Feliz (or "Happy Indian") is a French bistro run by a French-Peruvian couple, Patrick and Cannie. Considered by many the best restaurant in Aguas Calientes, it occupies a 2-level pink building, decorated with many plants and a welcoming cosy fireplace.

The cuisine is simple but delicious, as is the French-style bread and the overall dining experience. There is a reasonable priced fixed-menu, which usually includes some of the place's favourites: quiche lorraine, lemon or spicy trout, and crème brulee for dessert. Great also the poulet au gingembre. Nice wine list (mostly Chilean) and a more than acceptable coffee.

Indio Feliz is usually packed with positively surprised travellers -happy as the Indian of the title-, reason why it's a very good idea to make a reservation, in particular during the high season (June through August).
